🏖️ Huge Summer Update

Model Context Protocol · Claude · ChatGPT · Codex

Chat with your finances.

Fintable gives your assistant a real, authenticated line into your own bank data. Not a screenshot. Not a CSV you uploaded last month. Your live balances, transactions and holdings, and a categorizer system.

How much did I spend on restaurants this year compared to last year?

list_accounts list_transactions list_categories

You have spent €3,412.80 on restaurants so far this year, across 128 transactions — up 18% on the same period last year (€2,891.40).

The jump is mostly March and April. Want me to add a rule that tags anything over €80 as "Client dinner"?

Trusted.

Trusted by thousands.

Accountants, engineers, founders and investors have run their books on Fintable for more than 5 years — 15,000+ institutions across 30+ countries, an official Airtable Marketplace app, and a documented REST API. The MCP server is that same platform, handed to your assistant.

Reliable.

Rock-solid bank data platform.

Your assistant is only as good as the data underneath it. Fintable has been building and maintaining bank connections for more than 5 years — across Plaid, GoCardless, Akoya and more — so the numbers it reasons about are complete, deduplicated, and exact to the cent.

Secure.

Read-only at your bank.

Ask it to connect a bank and it hands you a secure link that you open yourself, in your own browser, on your bank's own login page. The assistant only ever learns that the connection succeeded.

Why this one is different

Ask. Categorize. Draw pretty graphs.

It can act, not just answer.

Create categories, write rules, categorize a whole month in bulk, rename accounts, trigger a sync. Every write is an explicit tool call you can review in your assistant.

Tool calls
  • create_category 7 categories created
  • create_rule 9 rules written
  • bulk_categorize 412 transactions matched
  • run_categorizer applied to your history
  • update_account 2 accounts renamed
  • start_sync all connections refreshed

Set your assistant to ask before running write tools.

Dashboards on real numbers.

Ask for a burn-rate chart or a two-year category breakdown and it reads the actual figures out of your account before it draws anything.

One standard, no lock-in.

A plain Model Context Protocol server at a public URL. Claude, ChatGPT and Codex connect today; anything that speaks MCP tomorrow will too.

It builds your categories for you.

Ask once and the assistant designs a category system that fits how you actually spend, then writes the rules so every new transaction lands in the right place on its own.

Things people actually ask

What can I ask?

“Connect my Chase account to Fintable.”

It finds the bank and hands you a secure link to finish the login yourself.

“Sync all my accounts and tell me when it is finished.”

Triggers the sync and watches the status until every connection is done.

“Set up sensible spending categories, then add rules so new transactions get categorized automatically.”

Builds your whole categorizer in one go, then leaves it running.

“Categorize everything from last month and flag anything unusual.”

Bulk categorization previews first, so nothing changes until you say so.

“Build me a dashboard of my monthly burn rate for the last two years.”

Reads the real numbers and renders it — chart, table, whatever you asked for.

“Is my Airtable integration healthy? If the last sync failed, tell me why.”

Checks the integration and reads back the actual error, in plain language.

The full toolbox

A complete toolbox for your agents.

Read-only — safe to always allow (21)

Set these to "always allow" in your assistant and it can answer questions about your finances without stopping to ask for permission on every lookup.

get_me list_connections get_connection get_sync_status list_accounts get_account list_holdings list_transactions get_transaction list_categories get_category list_rules get_rule get_categorizer_status get_integrations search_institutions get_exchange_rates get_exchange_rate_history get_stock_prices get_stock_price_history get_docs

Writes — set these to ask first (14)

Configure these tools to ask for confirmation before they run. Bulk categorization uses a dry run by default so you see the plan before it happens.

update_connection categorize_transaction update_category update_rule update_account create_category create_rule bulk_categorize run_categorizer start_sync mint_connection_link delete_connection delete_category delete_rule

Every tool is a one-to-one mirror of the Fintable REST API, with the same permissions and the same rate limits.

AI questions

Something else on your mind? Write to us — a human replies.

Do I need to pay extra for the AI connector?
No. The MCP server is included with your Fintable plan. You do need an assistant that supports custom MCP connectors — Claude, ChatGPT or Codex — on whichever plan that vendor requires.
Does my AI assistant see my bank login?
No, and it cannot. Bank logins happen on your bank's own page, in your browser. Fintable itself never sees your credentials either — that is handled by regulated providers like Plaid, GoCardless and Akoya.
Can the assistant move money?
No. Fintable holds read-only access to your accounts. There is no payment tool, no transfer tool, and no way for any assistant to initiate one — the capability simply does not exist in the API.
What if the AI gets something wrong?
Reads are harmless and you can always check the numbers in your spreadsheet. Write tools should be configured to ask for confirmation, bulk categorization defaults to a dry run, and everything the categorizer does can be re-run or reset from the dashboard.
Does this replace the spreadsheet integrations?
Only if you want it to. Plenty of people run both: the assistant for questions and quick fixes, Airtable, Google Sheets or Notion for the dashboards and the permanent record.
Can I use it from my own code instead?
Yes. The MCP tools are a one-to-one mirror of the REST API, which is documented, OAuth-secured, and open to your own scripts and agents.

Just ask your AI about your money.

Free trial, no card required. Connect a bank, add the connector, and ask it something you have been putting off looking up.
