Why does Fintable have transaction limits?

To differentiate between personal use and business use, while continuing to offer Fintable for a one-time fee without a subscription for personal use.

Your budgeting app should not cut into your budget, and you should not need another subscription to reduce your subscriptions. That is why the Personal plan can be bought once and kept for life, and why we keep it within reach of people on a low income. Fintable has no ads and sells no data, so that has to be funded by something — and the fairest candidate is the businesses whose cash flow runs through the platform.

None of those costs stop when a one-time payment clears, and they grow with the number of accounts connected and the amount of data moving through them. Transaction volume is how we tell who is generating most of that load.

How the number is calculated

Your annual volume is the larger of total money in or total money out over the last 365 days — never the two added together.

A rolling year
Always the last 365 days, recalculated daily. Nothing resets on an anniversary, and an old spike leaves the window by itself.
Converted to USD
Each transaction is converted at the rate for its own currency, so multi-currency accounts are measured on the same scale.
Enabled accounts only
Accounts you have switched off are excluded, along with their transactions. Sub-accounts are counted with the parent.
Pending included
Pending transactions count while they exist, and stop counting if the bank later drops them.

Is $1 million a lot?

Here is a full year for an example household: a salary, a credit card cleared every month, the usual bills and a savings habit. It is deliberately the awkward case, because the card and the savings account each push the same money past the meter more than once.

Counted for the year

$147,000

About 15% of the $1 million limit — roughly 6 times that again still spare.

A year in one household In Out
Salary paid in, 12 × $7,500 $90,000
Card spending, 12 × $4,000 $48,000
Paying the card off from the current account $48,000
…that same payment landing on the card $48,000
Rent, bills and direct debits $30,000
Moving $750 a month into savings $9,000 $9,000
Totals $147,000 $135,000
Counted volume — the larger side $147,000

For scale, a small shop turning over $2.5 million — supplier payments out, card settlements in, payroll, tax — clears the limit several times over. That is what the Office plan is for.

What happens if you go over

Less than most people assume. Nothing is deleted and nothing is switched off.

Keeps working

  • Every transaction already synced stays exactly where it is.
  • Your banks keep syncing and your spreadsheet keeps updating.
  • Your REST API access and AI connector are untouched.
  • Existing connections keep working, including reconnecting an expired one.

Stops until it is resolved

  • You cannot add a new bank connection. That is the only restriction.
  • We email you every three days until you are back under the limit or the limit is raised.

If the figure does not reflect a genuinely personal account — a house sale, a closed account, two banks consolidated — write to us. We raise Personal limits for free, and we do it often.

Your own rolling 365-day figure, your limit and a breakdown by bank connection are on the billing usage page.

Common questions

Something else on your mind? Write to us — a human replies.

Do transfers between my own accounts count twice?
No. A transfer adds the same amount to both money in and money out, and only the larger of the two is counted, so it moves your number once. A credit card you settle in full each month behaves the same way.
I had one huge one-off transaction. Am I stuck?
No. It leaves the rolling window 365 days after it happened. If you would rather not wait, write to support — a house sale, account closure or bank consolidation is exactly the case where we raise a Personal limit for free.
Does a lifetime licence have the same limit?
Yes. A lifetime licence is the Personal plan bought once instead of monthly, so it carries the same $1 million annual volume and the same 10 connections.
Can I exclude an account I do not care about?
Yes. Disable the account in your connection settings and neither it nor its transactions count towards your volume — or reach your spreadsheet.
Does the Office plan really have no volume limit?
Correct. Office and Enterprise have no transaction volume ceiling at all, and Office also raises you to 50 bank connections, multiple spreadsheets and sub-accounts.
